The line between Whitrigg and Bowness is now mainly overgrown and not very distinct over Bowness Common. Its a lovely place to visit as it is now a nature reserve. For more information on Bowness Common vist the English Nature Website. These pictures were taken on a sunny day on 8th August 2005 and it was quite staggering to see this well built embankment and the rusting piers still defiant to the Solway tides. It would have been wonderful to travel accross the viaduct that day had it still been here.
