Ann Townsley - These photos were found going through some of my late fathers things. My father Robert Townsley lived at Lowca and worked at the pit as a Fitter. He married Eleanor Whittle from Moss Bay and they had four girls Jean, Joyce, Sheila and Ann. Bob worked in the pits all his life and retired when the Lowca pits closed.

Many thanks to John Harkness for identifying the photos. Photos number 1, 2, 6, 10, 11, 25 and 27 all belong to John and should not be copied without his consent. Please visit John's excellent website at www.johnharkness.supanet.com/
