Caledonian Railway Association - The 3 Locomotives pictured above were built by Neilson, the 0-4-2’s in 1866 and the 0-6-0’s in 1868. The 1866 engines had been ordered by the Banbury and Northampton Railway but not delivered and none of them carried their allocated SiR numbers, entering service in 1869 with their Caledonian numbers:

CR 540 (SiR I), the original weatherboard was replaced by the canopy at an early date. It was duplicated as 540A in 1892, as 1354 in 1899 and withdrawn in 1900. CR 541 (SiR 2)was withdrawn in 1901.
CR 1323 (SJR 4), serving as station pilot at Carstairs, entered service as CR 453 became CR 323 in 1877 and duplicated as 323A in 1887, as 1280 in 1899, as 1323 in 1900 and withdrawn in 1906. Her sister CR 452 (SiR 3) was withdrawn in 1899 as CR 1279.
CR 382 (SiR 6), entered service as CR 543 and was duplicated as 543A in 1892. Recapitalised as CR 382 in 1897 and rebuilt in 1903, the condition shown in the photograph. Became LMS 17102 and was withdrawn in 1928. The sister was withdrawn in 1927 as LMS 17101.

Photographs of all 3 locomotives suggest they spent most of their service lives away from The Solway Junction Railway.
